Job Purpose

The CAD Designer is responsible for the creation and changes to all mechanical design drawings. The work will be predominantly intellectual and varied, not routine, in nature. The employee will need to regularly use his/her discretion and independent judgment in the performance of his/her duties.

Education Level

  • Minimum high school diploma, BSME or trade school preferred

Job Experience

  • Minimum 5 year of experience
  • Desired: manufacturing experience

Skills/Special Training Required to Effectively Perform the Job

  • Proficient in Solid Works and drawing dimensioning and tolerance procedures, file and documentation revision control
  • EPDM
  • AutoCAD
  • Microsoft Office

Responsibilities: List responsibilities/activities

  • Performs other related duties as assigned by Management
  • Responsible for the mechanical system design of electric and hybrid industrial vehicles
  • Creation of CAD models and production drawings
  • Develop detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment and dies/tools using CAD equipment, specifically Solid Works
  • Lead and coordinate with other employees to design, lay out, or detail components and systems and to resolve design or other problems
  • Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting component designs
  • Provide BOM management along with sourcing support of all components within the design
  • Perform and make necessary design decisions/judgments during the course of work as required based off of intellectual thought
  • Enter/manager all part numbers and revisions of parts and assemblies within the company’s data systems per common standards
  • Perform accurate revision management or all engineering working and released documents and files per the department’s common standards

Job Requirements

  • Strong background in math and science
  • Knowledge automotive and industrial engineering systems with a focus in: Mechanical design and drafting
  • Experience with GD&T and drafting standards per ASME / ANSI standards.
  • Ability to perform tolerance analysis of mechanical assemblies
  • Solid understanding or manufacturing process including: machining, sheetmetal, plastic injection molding, welding
  • Teamwork, cooperation, positive attitude and strong work ethic
